the artist
In 2024, after a sold-out European tour in January, the band tried to get back to normal. It released its 7th album, TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH, after BLACK DOG in 2021. The album reflects recent events without clichés. Formed in 1975 by Neil Harris and Jimmy Pursey, the band has undergone several line-up changes, including Pursey’s departure in 2006, replaced by Tim V. Under his leadership, Sham 69 has enjoyed a revival, with 7 successful albums and worldwide tours.
The current line-up features Tim V, the band’s longest-serving drummer with 38 years of service behind Sham 69’s kit, Ian Whitewood.
Paul Brightman plays lead guitar and joined the band for the US tour in 2016 and Al Campbell, who joined the band in 2009, plays bass. Alan has a perfect pedigree in punk after spending 13 years with UK SUBS and playing with Marky Ramone and Jayne County and the Electric Chairs.
With anthemic songs such as SING WHEN YOUR WINNING entering the charts in the UK and Europe, and other songs over the past 4 years such as LAST GANG IN LONDON / GOODBYE BILLY BLUE / SHOUT and more recently SIGN OF THE TIMES being used in films, the band has managed to do a lot of things against the grain. The band who are praised for kicking ass on stage at an advanced age amaze audiences worldwide with their passion and stage presence.
Now, with the release of a new album, the world must be ready for pure Street Punk!
It’s Sham 69 now, and the band plays with real purpose, faith and positivity – something they feel is necessary in these post-pandemic times.
